'Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds...'
As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we can expect fiery trials to come our way at various times throughout our lives; it would be foolish to think otherwise. 1 Peter 1:6-7 says, 'In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.'
As you can see from this scripture, and many others, Christians will go through trials of various sorts. The question is how are you going to respond to them. Are you going to get angry at God when you lose your job, or are you going to rejoice knowing that God is working all things together for your good?
Will you complain to God when your co-workers mock and persecute you for your faith, or will you pray for boldness to preach the Gospel to those who are deriding you constantly?
Will you harbor bitter resentment towards that brother or sister that offended you, or will you choose to forgive them? Tough questions perhaps, but these are just some of the fiery trials that can come our way.
We have many promises that are based around blessings, and I praise God for that, but we also have promises that we will enter into trials at various times. See Acts 14:22. So what are you to do? Rejoice because God is at work in you developing your character. James 1:2,3 says, 'Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.'
We are told to rejoice and to consider it joy! Those who are governed by their carnal nature cannot do this; those governed by the Holy Spirit can. Those being lead by the Spirit know that God is at work and the God has a plan of deliverance for them.
I can testify to this: During the past 29 years (at the time of this writing) of walking with the Lord, I've faced various trials that have, at times, been vexing to my soul. But through them all God has been faithful to deliver me from and through every one them.
Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:17,18, '...And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack...'
Are you facing a grievous trial today dear reader? Then rejoice and watch God work it all out for you; stand your ground in faith; stand on the word, and wait patiently Him, you won't be disappointed!
Have a blessed day
