Bible Study: Make it Personal

Mark 4:24
'Then He said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear. By your own standard of measurement [that is, to the extent that you study spiritual truth and apply godly wisdom] it will be measured to you [and you will be given even greater ability to respond]—and more will be given to you besides.' (AMP)

Most Christians know that as part of their walk with the Lord they must study scripture, but whether they make this study personal is another matter. What do I mean by making bible study personal? Simply that when you read the bible you put yourself under its revealing light and let the word change you by applying it's truths to your life.

Bible colleges and bible study tools abound in our day and age, so there's no excuse for not applying oneself to the systematic study of God's Word, and then applying it to every area of your life.

Do you want to grow spiritually, succeed in your career, build meaningful relationships, conquer anxiety, break bad habits, or be healed from the emotional wounds of your past? Then read, meditate, study, ponder, and speak out the life transforming truths contained in God's Word, the bible.

There comes a point in time in every Christian's life when you've got to stop living off someone else's spiritual insight. There comes a point in time when you've got to study the Word of God for yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to bless you with life transforming insights.

Paul writes, 'Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth,'2 Timothy 2:15. Paul expected Timothy to be diligent to carry out this task; God expects our diligence to carry out this task too.

Dear reader if you're not already doing this, study the bible diligently; let the Holy Spirit impart His Word to you. Jesus said in John 16:15 (CEV), "Everything that the Father has is mine. That is why I have said that the Spirit takes my message and tells it to you." You'll experience the truth of these words as you personalize the scriptures with child like faith.

Have a blessed day
