Hearing From God Daily

John 10:3-4
"To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice."

For the born again christian, one of the greatest blessings we have is God speaking to us personally. There truly is no greater blessing than hearing from your God; just one word from Him can change your life forever!

The problem is some Christian's have difficulty in hearing the Shepherd's voice. If this is you, here are some practical things you can do to help you tune into God:

1) Get into a regular prayer habit, setting a time and place to seek God daily. Some prefer morning. '...In the morning my prayer comes before you,' (Psalm 88:13). Some of you may prefer evening. 'Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice,' (Psalm 141:2).

Others may prefer regular encounters throughout the day. 'Evening and morning and at noon
I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice, (Psalm 55:17)
. It doesn't matter which time of the day or night you prefer, the point is that you make a time and find a place that's right for you; God will honor your efforts to seek Him.

How much time should you take in prayer? As much as you need! Your prayer should last as long as it takes you to talk to God and for God to talk to you. It really is a personal thing between you and your God; what's right for me might not be right for you. God treats us all as individuals, so let Him lead you.

2) Have your bible open. This is really important because God has chosen to speak to us primarily through His Word. Pray and ask God to speak to you through scripture, but don't come to scripture looking for your own idea. Go to scripture with an open mind, looking for God's idea.

When a scripture seems to stand out to you, stop and ponder over it for a while. This is the Holy Spirit showing you something from His Word. Now pray about what you've just seen or understood. Guess what? You're now conversing with your God about what's on His heart, Praise the Lord!

3) Have a listening heart. What is a listening heart? It's a heart that not only hears what God is saying, but is also willing to obey everything that has been said. James writes, ' But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.' James 1:25

If you're obedient to what God says He will bless you with even more manner from heaven, and you'll be blessed in all you do! God is looking for people who are hungry to listen for His word and to obey Him when He gives instruction.

Dear reader, you can hear from God today if you hunger for Him; He will speak to you if you're listening and willing obey, amen!

Have a blessed day
Paul
