If You Rush, You Must Rest Dear Christian

Mark 6:31
"And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while....”

Mark records a time when Jesus and His disciples were so busy that they did not even have time to eat! 'For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat,' Mark 6:31.

Nobody's assignment, on this earth, has ever been greater than the Son of God's; no one has ever been as busy as Him, not even you or I. But He knew the importance of relaxation and He knew when to get away.

Jesus was able to accomplish so much in so little time because He understood the balance between work and rest. Our modern world demands super busy life styles; our ministries can also take us on a dizzy ride with people coming and going, and placing demands on us all day long.

Does this describe you dear reader? Are you so busy that you feel like you're about crash and burn? Then it's time you got away for some rest and relaxation! People are wonderful, but they can be draining at times. As you're calling and career grow so will the demands be that are placed on you.

It's okay to work hard, but you need to play just as enthusiastically! God's not going to hold it against you for taking a little R&R. If Jesus needed to get away for a little while, how much more you and I?

It is well documented that scheduling at least one per week is enough to recharge the soul for the next six days of work. Even our heavenly Father rested on the seventh day. Now if that's not telling us something I don't what else will.

If you had one full day all to yourself, what would you do? If you can't answer that question then you need to pray, 'Lord teach me how to rest; show me how I can turn towards you; teach me how to wait on You so that I might be restored and renewed.

Ponder this scripture today: '...those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint,' Isaiah 40:31.

Have a blessed day
