The Power of Togetherness In Christ

Psalm 133:1
'Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!'
Picture, for a moment, a group of people working together in a great cause each functioning at their God-ordained best and enjoying it, that's unity. This group of people may not agree on absolutely everything, but they are agreed on a common cause and they get the job done despite any insignificant differences they may have in their personalities.

As born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are called to walk in unity with one another. When we get serious and choose unity over division there won't be anything to hold us back from experiencing revival in our land. The devil will be defeated, the power of God will flow, and lives will be changed.

Psalm 133:1-3 says, 'Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity...For there the Lord commanded the blessing.' When believers truly understand the power of togetherness in the Lord and begin to practice it, the blessing of the Lord will flow, and His touch will be on that particular ministry and on each individual member.

There is story told in the old testament that illustrates the power of togetherness really well. It was in a time when the people of the earth had one language and one purpose of heart. These people determined in their hearts to build a tower into the heavens and to make a name for themselves.

This is what they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11:4. These people were united; they had but one purpose and that was to make a name for themselves and live on in rebellion against God.

God took their togetherness (unity) seriously, this is what He said, ...“Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language..." Genesis 11:6-7.

Now if evil people can unite and have such power, how much more the body of Christ? Paul said in Ephesians 4:1-3, ..."walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with long suffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

It's time to put away petty grievances and forgive one another; it's time to take a stand against division of all kinds; it's time to take God seriously on this matter and obey His word! Togetherness (unity) is a powerful thing when you put it into practice!

Have a blessed day
