Touching Jesus

Mark 5:28
'...If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole.'

The gospel of Mark records a story of a Jewish woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years. Here in western society we politely call this a female condition, but for this Jewish woman it was a devastating condition that left her a social outcast.

She could not touch her husband sexually; she could not enter the temple; everything she touched was considered unclean, and she'd spent all her money on doctors but could not get well. It was while  in this condition that she encountered Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of the living God.

This is the story: 'And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,  and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole,' Mark 5:25-28.

It was crowed around Jesus and this woman risked her own personal safety and pressed in through the crowd to touch Him. Her faith was alive in the healing Christ and nothing was going to stop her from getting what she wanted, her health. She did not let anything or anyone stop her that day.

Are you sick? It may be that you need to be just like this woman and press in through all the noisy crowd of unbelief. There may be arguments and reasons why you can't get healed, but don't listen to any of them; don't let them stop you from missing out on touching Jesus.

Notice what happened when she finally got through and touched the hem of Christ's garment: She was instantly healed. Mark 5:29 says this, 'And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.'

'And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?' Mark 5:30. Do you see what happened here? Faith gets the attention of Jesus! I'm sure many would have brushed up against Jesus that day, but it was only when the woman touched Him with her faith that she got her miracle.

Understand this: God looks on the heart of a person and can tell the difference between a casual churchgoer and a heart that is truly hungry for Him. Are you prepared to push through pain, problems, and pressures to touch Jesus by faith?

You're not just another face in the crowd that Jesus has no time for, neither is your problem to big for Him. Dear reader, reach out in faith and touch Jesus today, and be made whole!

Have a blessed day
